US chipmaker AMD to invest $400 million in India

The new AMD Bangalore campus will increase the company office footprint to 10 locations in India.

American chip making giant, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced that it will invest approximately $400 million in India over the next five years and open a new AMD campus, the company’s largest design centre in Bengaluru.

AMD’s chief technology officer Mark Papermaster announced the company’s investment plan at Semiconductor India Conference 2023, Gandhinagar. India’s annual flagship event was inaugurated by PM Modi and addressed by the Papermaster and Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra.

Union Cabinet Minister for Telecommunications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar welcomed the AMD plan to invest in India.
