Bollywood meets Politics at engagement of Parineeti Chopra and MP Raghav Chadha

The love-struck will reportedly tie the knot in October.

The world of Bollywood and Politics met at the engagement of Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha and Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra on May 13. The duo exchanged rings in the presence of friends and family during a ceremony held at the Punjab Government's Kapurthala House in Chandigarh.

The event was attended by 150 people, including several prominent names from politics and the film industry. Arvind Kejriwal, the CM of Delhi, Bhagwant Mann, P Chidambaram, Derek O’Brien, Aaditya Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), and other politicians were present. Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti’s cousin, who arrived in the country on the day of the event also attended.

Sharing glimpses of the event on her social media, Parineeti wrote, “Everything I prayed for…I said yes! Waaheguru ji meher karan.” In a joint statement, the couple said, " We both come from different worlds, and it's amazing to know that our worlds also unite with our union. We have gained a bigger family than we could have ever imagined.”

For the ceremony, Raghav chose an ivory achkan from his uncle and fashion designer Pawan Sachdeva's while Parineeti wore a pastel peach dress by Manish Malhotra.  According to reports, the ring ceremony was conducted in accordance with Sikh customs.

Parineeti debuted as a supporting actress in the movie “Ladies Vs Ricky Behl” and since then has done multiple movies including “Ishqzaade", "Shuddh Desi Romance", "Hasee Toh Phasee", "Kill Dil", "Meri Pyari Bindu". Her beau is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. At 34-year-old he is the youngest Member of Parliament.
