Footballer Jyoti Chauhan scripts history with hat-trick

Chauhan achieved the feat during the final league game of the Croatian Women's League

History was created in Croatia as Indian footballer Jyoti Chauhan became the first player from her country to score a hat-trick in Europe. Representing ZNK Dinamo Zagreb, Chauhan achieved the feat during the final league game of the Croatian Women's League against ZNK Agram.

Chauhan, aged 23, scored in the 28th, 37th, and 46th minute of the match, leading her team to a resounding 4-1 victory. This achievement adds to her previous milestone of being the first Indian footballer to score a goal in the Croatian top-division league earlier this year when she found the net in Zagreb's 4-0 win over Rijeka.

Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Chauhan’s talent and consistent performance earned her a regular place in the starting lineup. She and fellow Indian national player Soumya Guguloth were the first Indian women's players to secure contracts in Croatia's top league, both signing with ZNK Dinamo Zagreb after a successful trial.

The trial, organized by the charitable organization Women in Sports, caught the attention of Dinamo Zagreb's women's team assistant coach, Mia Medvedoski. Impressed by their skills, she selected Chauhan and Guguloth, who had previously played for Gokulam Kerala FC in the Indian Women's League.

The two Indian footballers have signed year-long contracts with the Croatian club, making them the first international players to represent Dinamo Zagreb. Chauhan, faced adversity in her personal life, having lost her father at a young age. Her mother, an agricultural labourer, supports the family.
