NBCUniversal and JioCinema forge multi-year partnership

JioCinema and NBCUniversal team up to bring a wide range of films and TV series to Indian audiences, with a multi year partnership.

NBCUniversal (NBCU) and JioCinema, Viacom18's streaming service, joined forces in a multi-year partnership on May 29 to bring an extensive collection of film and TV series from NBCU to audiences in India.

The partnership ensures that JioCinema subscribers can enjoy a wide range of titles from NBCU's impressive array of production entities and brands. This portfolio encompasses powerhouse names such as Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, Universal Television Alternative Studio, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Bravo, and more.

Reality television enthusiasts will have their cravings satisfied as well, with access to NBCU's unscripted series known for their drama, laughter, and emotional roller coasters. Included in the deal are popular shows like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules, Family Karma, which follows the lives of Indian-American friends, and The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, a transformational series narrated by Amy Poehler that explores life, mortality, and the joys of being alive.

Adding to JioCinema's already impressive subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) lineup are exclusive streaming premieres of movies from the iconic Hollywood studio, which has already surpassed US$2 billion in global box office earnings in 2023. This includes Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and the sci-fi horror film M3GAN, produced by James Wan (known for The Conjuring and Annabelle) and Blumhouse. Additionally, audiences can look forward to films from the blockbuster franchises Jurassic, Bourne, Shrek, The Mummy, and Pitch Perfect.

Future offerings on JioCinema will include movies from the beloved Minions and Fast franchises, including the recently released Fast X, along with The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the highly anticipated IMAX-shot epic thriller Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan.

Through this partnership, JioCinema leverages its wide reach and expertise to introduce Indian audiences to the Peacock brand and NBCU's diverse portfolio. Simultaneously, JioCinema solidifies its position as the largest OTT service in the Indian market, now fortified by an unprecedented volume of top-tier films and series from NBCU.
