Bengali Conference to be held in Atlantic City

The three-day event will feature cultural programs, Bengali arts and films, and seminars on business, literature, health and science.

The 43rd edition of the North American Bengali Conference (NABC), a largest Bengali culture conclave in the region is be held from June 30, 2023, to July 2, 2023, at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Organized by the KPC Bengali Hall of Fame and Sree Sree Gita Sangha the event is expected to attract 8000 visitors.

"The North American Bengali Conference is where East meets West and is a grand celebration of Bengali culture, life and tradition," said Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay, Convener NABC 2023. "Each year we meet in a world-class destination and this summer we are thrilled to bring our celebration to Atlantic City, one of the most exciting resorts in America," he added.

The three-day event expected to attract US$6 mn to US$8 mn in tourism revenue to Atlantic City will feature cultural programs, Bengali arts and films, and seminars on business, literature, health and science. The event will also have new components, including a torch ceremony, cultural performances, a conch blowing world record attempt, painting event and an international film festival.

According to the press statement, the torch ceremony will include 100 electronic torches born by organizations from all over the US and Canada, on display at Bader Field; a procession through Albany Avenue and the Atlantic City Boardwalk that ends with an assembly celebration at Kennedy Plaza.

On June 30 a world record attempt will be attempted on the sand in front of Kennedy Plaza, as participants attempt to blow 500 conches simultaneously for one-minute. Reputed artists and performers from India and Bangladesh will present cultural events at Kennedy Plaza, for two sessions daily. A mural event, including 75 school-age children guided by three professional artists, will also happen on an Atlantic City-approved open wall.
