Gujarat to host India-Pak World Cup match

The match is set to take place on October 15.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the much anticipated ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is set to take place at the Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad, on October 15, Sunday.

The high-intensity match, which will mark the two teams' eighth confrontation at a men's World Cup, is anticipated to completely sell out the 132,000-seat stadium. India had won each of the previous seven matches.

Previously the two teams faced each other in the 50-over World Cup in 2019 at Old Trafford. India posed a massive total of 336/5 courtesy of a 113-ball 140 run innings by Rohit Sharma. The Men in Blue proceeded to win the rain interrupted match by 89 runs (DLS method).

The 2023 World Cup is set to commence in host nation India on October 5, with the inaugural match between England and New Zealand. India's opening match, is set against five-time world cup champion Australia, on October 8 in Chennai. 10 venues have been chosen for the mega event that will span across 46 days.
