Royal, a leading brand of authentic basmati rice in the United States celebrated the success of the inaugural season of the highly popular Major League Cricket, that recently concluded with MI New York declared as champions.

As the official partner of the league, the brand merged South Asian culture and cuisine with the high-intensity cricketing action at the venues. During the final match between Seattle Orcas and MI New York, the brand also sponsored the award for leading run scorer of the league.

Mayuri Mukherjee, marketing director of LT Foods Americas, presented Nicholas Pooran of MI New York with the inaugural "Royal Leading Run Scorer," award for the MLC's top run scorer for the 2023 season.

A complimentary "Build Your Own Bowl" game day snack, made with Royal's basmati rice and a variety of toppings like Green Mango Chutney, Mint Chutney, and Tikka Masala, was provided to spectators at the stadium to add to the excitement of the field. The brand also teamed up with MLC to create intriguing social media content. This included the exciting "Choose Your Bowler Bracket," which engaged fans by asking them to vote for their preferred dishes and cricket players, and the "A very Royal XI" tournament, which allowed fans to build their team and win MLC tickets and autographed cricket balls from players.

Additionally, Royal released its first-ever US television commercial, highlighting how true taste from Royal enhances the excitement of every cricket match. The "The Many Flavours of Cricket" advertisement was created by McCann, directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, and produced by Ramya Rao. It debuted on CBS Sports Network and Willow on the first weekend of play and will run throughout the MLC season this month. The one-minute commercial expertly illustrates how tradition, cuisine, and cricket can coexist while highlighting the various traditions and tastes that make cricket such an important part of South Asian society.
