Donald Trump’s rival in the presidential elections of 2024, Indian-American candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, has vowed to forgive the former head of the U.S. if he is elected to the Oval Office. “I commit to pardon Trump promptly on January 20, 2025, and to restore the rule of law in our country,” reads a part of his lengthy tweet.

In making his commitment known, Ramaswamy pointed fingers at President Joe Biden and Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama. The Republican candidate from Ohio accused both of them and the rival Democratic party as a whole of using their power and influence to direct the police force to arrest their political opponents.

Ramaswamy’s tweet came on the heels of Trump being criminally charged for the second time in months, this time for handling classified files after he left the White House. A 37-count indictment unsealed on June 9 accused him of keeping WH files about U.S. military plans and nuclear programs alongside other classified documents at his Mar-A-Lago property in Florida, which were recovered in 2022 during an FBI raid. Trump is expected to appear in a Miami courthouse on June 13, 2023.
