Indo-Canadian gangster shot dead in Vancouver

Police believe Amarpreet Samra was killed in a targeted attack by a rival gang

Wanted Indian-origin gangster Amarpreet Samra was shot dead in Vancouver outside a wedding hall on May 28, 2023. According to an official statement by the Vancouver Police Department their officers responded to several 911 calls regarding the shooting and performed CPR on Samra until paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the 11 gangsters in the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – British Columbia list,  Samra was named among individuals who pose a significant risk to public safety for their connection to violent events.  The public was warned to take measures to ensure personal safety, along with the announcement in August 2022.

Investigators believe the deceased was a victim of a targeted killing by one of the rival gangs. His older brother, also a gangster, had reportedly accompanied him to the wedding where a few unidentified people walked into the venue and ordered the music to be stopped, minutes before the shooting took place.

According to the CFSEU, 188 criminal groups are vying for a share of British Columbia’s illicit markets. Samra was aligned with the United Nations gang formed in Abbotsford, BC in 1997. An investigation has been ordered and those with information that could assist investigators have been encouraged come forward.
