Sikh Coalition advocates for AANHPI education in schools

The volunteers and advocates from several communities and organizations gathered in support of bills that mandate schools to include material about AApI history in their curriculum

As part of  Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month celebrations, Sikh Coalition along with other Sikh organizations, community advocates and sangat members participated in the first-ever Advocacy Day held at New York State Capitol in Albany.

The organizations, part of the Representing and Empowering AANHPI Community History (REACH) Coalition, expressed their support for Senate Bill 5963/ Assembly Bill A06579, a measure that would require public K-12 schools in New York state to include material in their curricula that reflects AANHPI history.
