India defeated the West Indies by 200 runs in the One Day International (ODI) decider in Tarouba to win the 3-match ODI series 2-1. India has now defeated the West Indies in 13 consecutive ODI series dating back to 2006.

A combined effort by the Men in Blue enabled the team to post 351/5 in their allotted overs. Though the team once again played without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli they could manage the huge score riding on half-centuries from Shubman Gill (85), Ishan Kishan (77), Sanju Samson (51), and Hardik Pandya (70).

Batting first, the Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill stitched together a 143-run partnership before Kishan was dismissed for 77(64). Gill scored 85(92) at that point. He shared a key 69-run partnership with Sanju Samson in the middle overs before Samson departed just after reaching his half-century. Captain Hardik Pandya made a quick-fire 52 ball 70 at the end.

Right from the beginning, the West Indies’ top order was wrecked by Mukesh Kumar, who finished with figures of 3/30 in seven overs. Shardul Thakur took four wickets while conceding 37 runs in 6.3 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets, and Jaydev Unadkat, who was playing in his maiden ODI in nearly ten years, managed one. Only Alzarrie Joseph with 26 runs and Gudakesh Motie with 39 runs offered a semblance of fight from the Windies side.
