Rajnikant’s ‘Jailer’ nears $1mn in US pre-sales

The highly anticipated movie has already become the highest grossing Indian movie in the United States

Superstar Rajnikant’s upcoming movie Jailer has become the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2023 through pre-sales in the United States. According to a Times of India report, t​he film has earned around $750K to become the highest grossing Indian film in America.

T​he highly anticipated film that is set to release in theatres on August 10, stars Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan, Sunil, Jackie Shroff, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu, Mohanlal, and Dancer Ramesh in pivotal roles.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who is known for directing action thrillers with elements of dark humour, the film’s plot revolves around a “crime syndicate that attempts to free its leaders from prison, but the warden of the jail Muthuvel Pandian (Rajnikanth) foils the efforts by putting on a show for the remaining criminals.”

T​he music for the film is scored by Anirudh Ravichander of Why this Kolaveri Di fame. The song Kaavaalaa​ ​from Jailer featuring Tamannaah Bhatia is trending on several social media platforms.

Acording to media reports offices in Bangalore and Chennai have announced holidays for their employees on the day of the release while some employers have also handed out free tickets to their employees.
